Seyed Hassan Aghaei Firoozabadi (born 1330, Mashhad) is the former Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran. From 1989 to July 29, 2016, he was the head of the General Staff and after changing the name of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, he was considered the highest military official after the Commander-in-Chief. Due to their valuable services and records in the eight years of holy defense and on behalf of the Basijis of the country, they were the first and only Basijis to reach the rank of Major General.
